Giving Back, Together

On a daily basis, we get lost in the hustle and bustle of our work lives. Sometimes, it’s important to step away and put time into something that can change your community for the better. This month, as a team, we volunteered at the Cincinnati Animal CARE humane society. Not only was it a fulfilling start to the morning (some of us hit our daily step count!), but we were also able to give these animals the walks, pets, and love they deserve.

We always hear about “team bonding” and what better way to “bond” than to give back to the community. Here are some reasons your next team outing should be a philanthropic one!

1. It’s Free (and Engaging)

It doesn’t cost anything to lend a helping hand, but it definitely feels good. You’re spending time with your team while doing something that counts. Collaboration outside the workplace can translate into collaboration within the team in the workplace.

2. Employee Well-Being

Talk about a stress reliever! Volunteering can give a sense of fulfillment and has been shown to improve mental health. This could also lead to job performance improvement and motivation: a corporate win-win.

3. Team Engagement

Volunteering and spending time with your co-workers outside of the office space can inspire creativity and productivity. There really is something in the air that gets those brain juices flowing.

So, incorporating team volunteering can be a strategy that could bring workplace results, but it’s also more than that. It’s a way to disconnect ourselves from our work and to connect with our community, and something that we should all consider.
